Protest against Indonesia violence and brutalities in Timika, outside of the Indonesian Embassy, London

by

LONDON – FWPC joined by British, PNG, and New Caledonia’s friends to protest against torture, intimidation, and destruction of innocent civilian houses in Utikini, Tembagapura. Consequently, the Free West Papua Campaign has called on the Indonesian government to end the brutality and oppression carried out by the Indonesian military and police on Saturday 17/01/2015 in London.

Due to these Indonesian military operations, numerous Papuans, mainly women and children hiding in the jungle. They now survive, homeless, without medical assistance, without food and every day they try to survive with fear. That is the life of Papuans in their own country.

Similar to its predecessor, the new president of Indonesia Joko Widodo is greedy on natural resources in West Papua, regardless of the lives of Papuans.

These facts prove once again the evolution of the illegal occupation of Indonesia in West Papua. More than 50 years of colonisation, the Papuan people on course to disappearance and their land will belong to Indonesia.

To sink into the horror, the police and the Indonesian military, creating false attack against mining companies such as Freeport among others, in order to justify their presence in the land of Papuans, and better able to control them.

Murders, tortures, imprisonment of peaceful protesters or assassinations without reasons are the routine of the Papuans, imposed by the laws of Indonesia, as a country called a democracy.

Despite these violence, Melanesians of Papua are fighting every day in order to make themselves to be heard their suffering, since 53 years.
