Today West Papuan students in Yogyakarta, Indonesia took the struggle onto the streets again and protesting for the freedom of West Papua.
They risked getting jailed for 15 years or even killed for raising the West Papuan national flag as they called for West Papua through The United Liberation Movement for West Papua – ULMWP to join the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG).

The students also called for full democracy in West Papua and freedom so that West Papuans can vote for independence in a referendum. West Papuans have been denied their human right to self-determination for over 50 years.They will only have this right fulfilled in a free and fair independence referendum.
