West Papuan schoolchildren are made to wear the Indonesian flag as their school uniform. They are often beaten and called, “stupid” and “primitive”. West Papuan independence leader Benny Wenda recalls how he was spat in the face by an Indonesian student. He washed his body three times and the next day the same student spat in his face again just because he was Papuan.
